“Keech Hospice Care has worked with Tootsie Toes for a number of years, in order to train our nurses in the craft of making 3D plaster casts of hands and feet of the children in our care. We believe this practice to be an extremely important part of the palliative care process for both the children and their families, with the casts being cherished as a precious keepsake for years to come.
We have also added the making of plaster casts to our training manual for care nurses, such is the significance of this process to the families of the children being treated by us.
Tootsie Toes provide the training service to our nurses free of charge, in an informal and enjoyable format, a couple of times per year. They are also on hand by phone or email, should we have any problems or queries with any technical aspects of cast making.
We look forward to continuing our association with Tootsie Toes on an ongoing basis. Their enthusiasm for the craft, the sensitivity of their approach and the excellent, free of charge training they provide us with, makes them an ideal partner for Keech Hospice Care”
