Bringing family and friends together for a Christening, Glistening or Naming Ceremony can be a joyful experience and can help create a special bond between Godparents, Guideparents and your child that will last a lifetime.
With less than one in ten babies now being Christened, Glistenings and Naming Ceremonies are becoming more and more popular. Parents are as keen as ever to celebrate their new baby’s arrival and don’t want their offspring to miss out on the benefits of adoring Godparents, so appointing Guideparents is the new non-religious alternative.
What are Glistening and Naming Ceremonies?
Naming Ceremonies and Glistenings are much like Christenings, although not conducted by a member of the clergy and can be led by parents or anyone they nominate.
The main differences are that the religious element is omitted in naming ceremonies, whilst glistenings offer a more generalised spiritual alternative.
The emphasis in both ceremonies is on love, kindness, morals and humanity, with Guideparents appointed to help steer children along the right path in life and offer support and guidance.
It’s a great honour to be entrusted with the title Godparent or Guideparent so creating a special keepsake to mark the occasion is a wonderful way for parents to show how important it is to have them in their child’s life.
It’s also a great way for Godparents and Guideparents to keep their Godchild with them, wherever they are.
